Fall 2017 Adult Cooking Classes

  • For Ages 13-adult – groups and families encouraged to attend (discount for groups of 4 or more)
  • Leave class empowered and ready to take on home cooking with a new perspective and skill
  • All classes include hands on prep and cooking, food ingredients, recipes, much information, questions answered,  fun, and tastings (and sometimes enough for a take home box too!)
  • Minimum 3 participants pre-registered for each class to run
  • $60 each or $275 for 5 class session

Wednesday evenings 6pm-8pm:

September 27 – The Well-Fed Vegetarian/Vegan (Quality Protein for all): Always a popular class for those facing the challenge of planning and cooking well balanced meals without animal protein. We discuss what it means to be a healthy plant-based eater, making the transition, and why it is ok to take your time on the not- always-so-easy journey. Whether you cook for yourself and/or others who have made a conscious change, you will learn much about how to improve your food combining, planning and cooking skills.

October 4 – Eating Seasonal-Autumn: Amazing recipes and techniques to build up the immune system for the colder weather ahead. Focusing on naturally warming foods, Ayurvedic, and 5 Element Theory principles. 

October 11 – Sugar Blues: Sugar addiction is real and we tackle this issue by discussing (while cooking) how to 1) regulate blood sugar levels 2) reduce sugar intake and 3) prepare and eat food to reduce the body’s dependence on sugar.  

October 18 – Truth About Fats / Truth about Carbohydrates: Exploring: the differences as it pertains to what we eat and the affect on our bodies; which are best digested and why; why we need quality nutrients found in fats and carbs.

October 25 – Cooking for Healthy Bones: Important nutrients – from food – for bone formation and strength.   Focus will be on a myriad of foods and recipes for bone health and preventing bone loss. Good for any age, male or female, athletes, we all have ’em!

Fasting & Detox

This presentation will provide valuable information which can be implemented in the lives of the every-day family, and will be the second of two informational events leading up to the Slow Medicine Juice Fast Program in Partnership with Good Choice Kitchen which will take place from July 22nd – July 30th. Come learn and explore about the wonderful world of full-body health.

Session 1: Seasonal Cooking: Spring

ages 13 – adult


$200 for the session; $75.00 each individual class; per person

Each class is a hands-on workshop with Chef Laurie, who has been successfully conducting cooking classes for the past 10 years.  Now in the Good Choice (professional) Kitchen you get to gain nutritional knowledge, perfect your culinary skills, and learn tips to enhance your own cooking experiences.  Recipes are multi-dimensional, as they utilize different cooking concepts, but are presented in a way that breaks down the confusion and angst in the kitchen.

Participants will:

  • have fun in the kitchen learning time saving tips and shortcuts
  • see how economical it is make the most of  your pantry staples and fresh produce
  • take pride in learning dishes your family and friends will love
  • work as a team and enjoy the food prepared
  • gain insight as to why it is important for health to eat “with the seasons”

6/7  The Basics: Knife skills, Basic Cooking techniques, Procuring ingredients, Empowerment in the Kitchen  Recipes: Asparagus, Radish, Spring Green Vegetable Tart times 2!
